BRIAN grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, and pitched for the University of Nebraska. He was on the Husker's first College World Series team in 2001.
Brian was drafted into the Houston Astros organization and played 10 years in the pros, including pitching in the major leagues in five Asian and Latin American countries, and for the Atlantic City Surf and Lincoln Saltdogs. He also was professional pitching coach for the Surf.
He garnered many All-Star selections and Player of the Year. He has a career ERA of 3.49 and threw over 1,000 strikeouts.
At a spring training camp at the start of Brian's professional career, he had the opportunity to visit briefly with Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan. Brian asked him what's one word that would help him during his baseball career. Nolan replied, "Determination."
Determination. Keeping on keeping on - that's just what Brian is doing. His love of the game has transitioned into a passion for developing youth - something he's been doing for 12 years - as he instructs them on the tangible, technical aspects of baseball and softball, as well as the intangible, mental aspect.
As Brian puts it: "Hit strikes hard. Throw strikes hard. Play ball!"
